چکیده

Purpose: The present study was done to evaluate the antimycobacterial activity of aqueous and methanol extracts nine plants viz., Buddleja saligna, Carpobrotus dimidiatus, Capparis tomentosa, Dichrostachys cinerea, Ekebergia capensis, Ficus sur, Gunnera perpensa, Leonotis leonurus Tetradenia riparia in South Africa.
Methods: Aqueous leaves were tested vitro for their against Mycobacterium smegmatis, tuberculosis H37Rv (ATCC 25177) three well-characterized clinical isolates MDR XDR-TB using agar incorporation method. minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) each active plant extract determined broth microdilution Cytotoxic effect evaluated mouse BALB/C monocyte macrophage (J774.2) peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) whole toxicity screening brine shrimp lethality assay. Composition thin layer chromatography while qualitative analysis compounds TLC-Bioautography
Results: B. C. tormentosa dimidiatus; G. perpensa T. possessed significant M. XDR-TB. Except a high none other which showed any toxic or cytotoxic activity.
Conclusion: Our findings show that tormentosa, have activity. Further studies would aim at isolation identification from had positive

detection of volatile compounds of medicinal plants with some nano-sorbents using modified or new methodologies and investigation of antioxidant activity of their methanolic extracts
in this work, a novel and fast method for direct analysis of volatile compounds (davc) of medicinal plants has been developed by holding a filament from different parts of a plant in the gc injection port. the extraction and analysis of volatile components of a small amount of plant were carried out in one-step without any sample preparation. after optimization of temperature, extraction time a...
Synthesis and Antimycobacterial Activity of Symmetric Thiocarbohydrazone Derivatives against Mycobacterium bovis BCG
In this work, we reported the synthesis and evaluation of antimycobacterial and antifungalactivity of a series of thiocarbohydrazone derivatives which are thiacetazone congeners. Thetarget compounds were synthesized in superior yields by reacting thiocarbohydrazide withdifferent aromatic aldehydes and methyl ketones. Compounds 8, 19 and 25 were found to bethe most potent derivatives, exhibiting...

متن کاملAntimycobacterial activity of fruit of Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC against Mycobacterium smegmatis
Objective: Fruits of lemon pepper (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC., Rutaceae) have been traditionally used as a spice and in folk medicine for treatment of diarrhea and stomachache. Stomachache could be associated with mycobacterial infection. The present study was designed to investigate the activity of Z. acanthopodium fruits against a non-infectious Mycobacterium smegmatis and to identify the ...
متن کاملAntibacterial activities of the methanol extracts of seven Cameroonian dietary plants against bacteria expressing MDR phenotypes
The morbidity and mortality caused by bacterial infections significantly increased with resistance to commonly used antibiotics. This is partially due to the activation of efflux pumps in Gram-negative bacteria. The present work designed to assess the in vitro antibacterial activities of seven Cameroonian dietary plants (Sesamum indicum, Sesamum radiatum, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Corchous olitori...
